Raising Money for CRY UK

January 2015

Charlotte’s husband Brad will be taking on the Wolf Run this April, a 10km cross country obstacle race that will see him and his teammates test themselves both physically and mentally as they tackle gruelling climbs, a muddy terrain and ice cold waters. However he needs everyone’s help in raising money & awareness for CRY, a charity that works closely with cardiologists and family doctors to promote and protect the cardiac health of young people by establishing good practice and screening facilities. Every week in the UK at least 12 young people die of undiagnosed heart conditions, CRY are devoted to significantly reduce the frequency of young and sudden cardiac death throughout the UK.

A Cause that’s close to our Hearts

Courtney joined Scott Bailye Hairdressing in September 2012. Courtney was finishing her NVQ level 3 when she was selected to work in Malta for two weeks with NWHC, a huge achievement. While on her Malta trip, Courtney tragically suffered a cardiac arrest, which led to brain damage. This was later diagnosed as SADS (sudden arrhythmic death syndrome). Courtney has since come on in leaps and bounds since the incident and is currently receiving the best possible care.

Everyone at the salon wishes Brad and his team the best of luck in their race and looks forward to seeing some of the pictures afterwards. To help Braid raise money for CRY UK click here or for more information about the charity click here.

It's a Close Shave for Hinckley Deacon

February 25th 2014

It's a close shave for Hinckley deacon the Rev Robin Pollard has gone bare-faced for charity. The 65-year-old cleric, a member of St Peter’s RC Church on Leicester Road, decided to have his beard of almost 40 years shaved off, to raise money for the parish’s Lourdes Fund.
The fund pays for sick and housebound parishioners to be taken to the holy shrine in France in a specially-adapted coach-come-ambulance, called a Jumbulance. Mr Pollard has himself benefitted from the pilgrimage in the past and wanted to help give others a similar opportunity. His beard shave looks set to have raised more than £750, which would pay for one person to travel to Lourdes and back. The deed was done by Earl Shilton hairdresser Scott Bailye, who entertained onlookers at the Mary Forryan Centre after a special mass at the church, which was attended by around 200 people, including representatives of the Across Trust, which runs the Jumbulance service. Robin said: “It all went off brilliantly. “Quite a lot of people were there and Scott Bailye is a superb showman.” He added: “I’ve been surprised that it doesn’t feel worse than it does. “I think I will have to shave it for a couple of weeks, just to prove to people that it’s done, but then I am fairly certain I will grow it back.”

Weight loss groups: Hinckley gets ahead for Christmas

November 21st 2013

Weight loss clients at LighterLife Hinckley enjoyed an evening of pampering as part of their ‘Getting your head right for Christmas’ campaign. Local award winning hair stylist Scott Bailye and his team popped into the centre to give a masterclass in styling and cutting techniques as part of the group’s Christmas weight loss bootcamp. For one night only, the reception lounge at the LighterLife Hinckley centre was transformed into a busy, trendy hair salon. Scott Bailye and three of his team demonstrated a range of styles and techniques as they worked their magic on eight volunteers. “Christmas can be a stressful time and we all want to look and feel our best. The clients on our Christmas bootcamp have done amazingly well – as a group they’ve lost over 14 stone in just six weeks, so we thought they deserved some pampering,” explained LighterLife Hinckley counsellor John Moore. This has been one of many events hosted by LighterLife Hinckley alongside other small businesses in the area. “So far, our Christmas bootcamp clients have had a make-over evening with The Health & Beauty Company, an evening at Romans Spa and a demonstration on how to prepare elegant table decorations courtesy of The Flower Shop. “On Sunday 22 December, we’ll also be teaming up with Amethyst Photography, who will be setting up a mini photo studio at our Christmas party, where past and present clients will come together and celebrate their weight loss transformations,” said John. Is your LighterLife group hosting any special events for Christmas? If you’d like your group to be featured on the LighterLife blog, please email gina.dyer@specialistuk.com with details of your event – we’d also love to see photos if you have them!
